The Milk Calendar

The Milk Calendar

2010 marks the 33rd edition of the Milk Calendar, which was first launched by Dairy Farmers of Ontario. It was a brand new way to provide consumers with tested innovative recipes and cooking ideas.

The calendar was printed on heavy paper, had eight new milk recipes, offered tips on grocery budgeting, and featured information on yogurt, which was gaining popularity as a ‘new’ convenience food. There is no doubt that the Milk Calendar is still going strong and is a long-standing tradition with Canadian families all over the country.

Thirty-three years ago when the Milk Calendar began, cooking at home was very common and important to most families. The calendar provided an interesting way to get recipes into the homes and hands of family heads of households/primary grocery shopper. Over the Calendar’s 33 years, the team at Dairy Farmers of Canada has showcased almost 500 recipes and has attracted some famous friends. Food celebrities including Bonnie Stern, James Barber, Anne Lindsay, Christine Cushing and Anna Olson have been associated with the Milk Calendar, not to mention countless behind-the-scenes recipe developers and testers, food stylists and photographers… the list goes on and on!

Every year the Milk Calendar makes a comeback and offers Canadian families year-round nutritious and easy-to-make meal ideas. This year again, the team at DFC focused on recipes that are full of the essential vitamins and bone-building nutrients found in milk.
